Every tool is a solution to a problem, freeing up resources. However, the resistance that a tool awakens depends on the problem it solves or the resources it frees up.

For example, artificial intelligence (AI) solves the problem of the vast amount of data we produce that exceeds human capacity. AI can process this data at a speed and accuracy that humans cannot match. This frees up human resources, which can be used for other tasks.

However, in a socioeconomic context where the freeing up of human resources leads to unemployment, this awakens the maximum resistance. If AI freed up any other resource, such as time or energy, it would be a hero. But as our economy is unable to absorb and reuse human resources, it turns it into the worst villain.

Another example is the automation of tasks. Automation can free up human resources, but it can also displace workers. This awakens resistance from workers who fear losing their jobs.

In general, the resistance that a tool awakens depends on the following factors:

  • The problem that the tool solves: If the problem is perceived as important or urgent, the resistance will be less.
  • The resource that the tool frees up: If the resource freed up is valuable or scarce, the resistance will be greater.
  • The socioeconomic context: If the context is favorable for adapting to change, the resistance will be less.

It is important to consider these factors when designing and using tools. If tools can be designed that solve important problems, free up valuable resources, and adapt to the socioeconomic context, they will be more likely to be accepted and used.

In the case of AI, an economic reform is needed that allows the reabsorption and reuse of the freed-up human resource. This could be done by creating new jobs, training workers for new skills, or redistributing wealth.

Without economic reform, AI will continue to awaken maximum resistance.
