We Gather In Prayer
The Power of Prayer
26. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Romans 8:26 N.I.V
Every Tuesday, with the exception of holidays and sick days, we gather together in the Pastor’s Office to pray. The needs of those in our church are varied, some are consistent, some are minor, and some are heartbreaking. Due to our calling, we hear the stories others may not. There are times when the weight of those prayers is heavy, especially when you know the person struggling, and in a church of our size that’s often the case.
But lately we have spent a good amount of time praying for those affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. We all have different political stances, but none of that matters, what matters is that we are there to pray, and it doesn’t matter who voted for who, or why, what matters is the power of prayer and the gift for compassion.
Despite being without a permanent pastor since mid-April, we continue to pray for our church, our community, and anyone in need. Yes, there are Tuesdays when we go home feeling the weight of others’ struggles, but we also celebrate each answered prayer.
There is power in prayer, power when we call out In Jesus Name, and pour out our hearts to him. Prayer is our gift to the Lord, and his gift to us.
