What is Renzo?

Renzo is a Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) and Strategy Manager for EigenLayer.

EigenLayer acts as a new DeFi primitive that allows Ethereum users to stake their ETH and secure Actively Validated Services (AVS) that generate rewards that come in addition to staking rewards.

Renzo protocol acts as the interface to the EigenLayer ecosystem, securing AVSs, and offering higher yield than Ethereum staking alone.

However, the protocol was also created to remove the complexity of the process from the end-user. Instead, it enables easy collaboration between the users and EigenLayer node operators.

The project is a strong supporter of both EigenLayer, as well as its goal of facilitating permissionless innovation on Ethereum.

What are the risks?

According to Renzo’s disclaimer:

using digital assets is inherently risky due to both features of such assets and the potential unauthorized acts of third parties

  • Digital assets may lose some or all of their value while they are supplied to Renzo Protocol.
  • While users are free to withdraw their staked crypto at any time, the process can take longer than a week.
  • Renzo also lists the risk of the user losing crypto due to factors such as incorrect information, software/network failure, corrupted crypto wallet files, unauthorized access, errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies, as well as third-party activities.

Then what is the profit?

  • Staking with Renzo Protocol allows users the opportunity to earn passive income.
  • Interacting with the protocol also allows stakers to participate in the crypto ecosystem.
  • Apart from rewards from traditional staking activities, the integration with EigenLayer allows Renzo Protocol to distribute more returns to the users.
  • Renzo offers a user-friendly interface that removes all complexity from re-staking.
  • Renzo also offers cross-chain re-staking, thanks to its partnership with Connext Network.

What do the social networks say?

CyberConnect recognized Renzo’s potential, announcing the partnership only hours ago:

We’ve partnered up with @RenzoProtocol to allow users to receive ezPoints and Cyber Restaking Points on their $ezETH at: https://cyber.co/restake

Note: CyberConnect is a web3 social network that enables developers to create social applications empowering users to own their digital identity, content, connections.

X user Rachit Agarwal praised Renzo for its growth in TVL and partnerships:

In a separate tweet, the same user wrote:

The Renzo team ships fast and has always pushed innovation within the LRT space Announcements (and especially pre-launch announcements) have always been positioned as “the first restaking protocol to” do xyz Innovation + FOMO, ez

A user going by the name of Tom Warner praised Renzo’s recent expansion to Base:

Restaking is undoubtedly the hottest topic in crypto today. It’s awesome to see @RenzoProtocol giving @Base ETH holders a way to restake from the L2, natively.
