Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic has announced his retirement from International career with 2018 World Cup runners-up. His retirement was confirmed by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) on Monday. A former Barcelona player, 32, he was an integral part of the Croatia side who reached the World Cup final in Russia. A much-celebrated player by football lovers around the globe, he gave 106 appearances and scored 15 goals for his country. Rakitic gave an emotional retirement message on his social media platforms; “Saying goodbye to the Croatian national team is the most difficult decision in my career, but I felt that this was the moment when I had to break away and make that decision,”

Ivan had made his debut for Croatia in 2007. He joined his former club Sevilla this summer after spending six years with Barcelona.
