Introduction

This collective blog was born following the controversy around the 2019 summer issue of Israel Studies journal, “Word Crimes”.

A public letter, signed by 181 scholars who study and teach Israel, was published here, calling on the Association for Israel Studies to disaffiliate from the journal unless it undergoes serious overhaul.

Key members of the journal’s editorial board have voiced their profound disagreement with the issue; they demanded that journal issue an apology. Some of them have already resigned.
