Common Ground. Is There Any?

Let’s see.

Can we agree that freedom is better than slavery?

That solvency is better than debt?

That education is better than ignorance?

That we’re all in this together?

If we are all in this together the notion that –as a rich nation– catastrophe needn’t be fatal. As it is in poor places.

Can we agree that a nation which celebrates sport, art, science and philosophy is preferable to a nation that celebrates war? And conquest?

That’s ninety percent of it.

Is the ten percent left a compelling reason to fear each other? To shout each other down? To despise a fellow citizen?

To impoverish ourselves by –new word for you– ungivingness?

What do you think?
