What Makes a Liberal? Where Do They Come From?

Cities.

Civilization –the creation of cities– requires dependency. When many people live in a small space they have to depend on others also there. Or, to use another word, they must cooperate.

Funny. When you call liberalism the imperative of dependency they don’t like it. Call it cooperation they do like it. But, whatever you call it, they’re are on a ten thousand year winning streak.

It’s been going their way since Damascus.

It seems surprising, Australia’s comparative liberalism. But when you know eighty percent of Australians live in seven cities you get it.

Same way, kind of with Canada, where ninety percent of them live within eighty miles of the US border.

Liberals are what cities make.

What, then, are conservatives?
