Using the distance grid with FATMAP

Bird’s Eye Navigation 🐦
When you’re looking for inspiration on where to go, it’s good to browse a broad area. That’s definitely where a global map comes in handy, but also things like the names of peaks and towns give us an idea or spark a search.

We’ve worked on improving the visibility and legibility of map data labels when you’re browsing at the town, city and country level.

Now planning for that awesome trip out got a little easier.

Measuring Distances 📏
It may seem obvious to some map enthusiasts but a distance scale is incredibly useful when planning and navigating.

Depending on the scale of the map, an inch could cover a short distance or literally be hundreds of miles away.

We’ve introduced the distance grid overlay that adapts as you zoom in and out allowing you to correctly estimate the distance between two points and understand the realities of your trip.

Searching For Sugarman 🕵🏽
Whether you’re looking for hidden treasures in remote places or planning a trip to your local trail, you need the map to perform.

We’re always improving the map you see when you need it the most, but in this update, we’ve worked on how the map loads in lesser used areas.

We won’t bore you with the nitty-gritty, just know that, if you want to head into the wild, we’ll be right there!
