When you’re riding big mountain routes, snow conditions and terrain can vary as you descend. Straightlining can be a good way to compensate for uneven terrain as well as an extremely fun way to finish your line.

Of course, this is an highly advanced skill and only to be practised once you’re comfortable with your riding and the terrain you’re exploring.

In part two of the ‘How To: XV’ series, we look at how to practice and improve this skill - from the ‘Eagle’ technique to where and when to execute.

“Straight-lining is one of my favourite ways to finish a line, you’ve ridden the exposed parts so you get to open up the throttle and go for it.” — Xavier De Le Rue
