Thinking about a Medium publication

I had been talking to a friend about getting into writing again.

Previously I had tried to write about subjects of interest, as a way of thinking more clearly and for the sake of just trying to write. I rarely wrote, but I felt a want to write every day. I never did it for more than a couple of days, even though I’m convinced that daily writing aids thinking, creativity, self-awareness and happiness.

I used to believe that to publish something (e.g. to Medium), you had to know your stuff; write thoroughly and with an audience at mind…

The one aspect of my writing that I could keep up (almost every day) was in my personal journal. Sometimes I would get very personal, sometimes I would write a couple of sentences that were on my mind, and sometimes I would try to articulate a thought or idea I’d been having.

I wanted to articulate myself better; to learn more about things I found interesting and being able to communicate those things to others.

I was re-introduced to Seth Godin’s daily blog just before talking to my friend, and the thought of publishing my thoughts online had been lingering in the back of my mind. After the conversation a rare aha-moment struck me; I would start a publication where I was pressured and personally challenged to write every day. And I wanted to get as many as I could with me on the journey. In this way, we could all learn from each other — and challenge each other — to write daily (at least try to), and thus becoming better writers and thinkers.

So here it goes.
