I Just Blocked a Troll

But they’re like weeds; new ones keep popping up everywhere.

Maybe DiggerB is a real person who acts like a troll by posting antisemitic hate and Hamas/Russian/Iranian propaganda on essays that support Israel’s right to exist, but it’s hard to tell.

He gets very upset at those who cast aspersions on those freedom seeking, democracy loving, kind hearted Hamas terrorists who, in his view, did NOTHING bad on October 7, 2023.

He could be a BOT, but I’m betting that he’s just a mean troll who sits at his computer (or under a bridge) searching for ways to spread hate. He’s a big fan of Jihad, terror, and autocratic rule (except that he’s either paid to do it or he copies it from well-paid pro-terror groups). He ostensibly cares about the suffering in Gaza but has nothing to say about anyone else’s suffering anywhere else in the world. And he certainly couldn’t care less about the suffering of Jews, because in a troll’s mind, we deserve to suffer (yeah, it’s an old trope).

He argues with anyone who doesn’t want a barbaric death cult to destroy Israel. I find it difficult to pinpoint how any of these priveleged trolls decided to cheer for terrorists whose charter calls for an actual genocide, but Hamas is really good at propaganda.

I wonder where he comes from, this troll, who, despite videos from the terrorists’ GoPro cameras, studies by Human Rights Watch, the NIH, numerous witness accounts, forensic evidence, and Sheryl Sandberg’s film with witness and survivor interviews, links only to propaganda messages sent by the Hamas (always truthful) Health Ministry. Even Al Jazeera admits to the crimes committed by Hamas on October 7th, but trolls only cite vile and hateful articles castigating Israel.

It’s astonishing to hear these VERY WELL EDUCATED (by Iran and other such freedom and democracy-loving countries and groups) people rant about how nobody was really murdered on October 7th, but if they were, it was Israel’s fault. Women weren’t raped and mutilated, but if they were, it was the IDF’s fault. Babies weren’t murdered, but if they were, it was the Jews who were responsible. And nobody (including the two little Bibas boys) was kidnapped and hidden in Gaza for nearly 8 months (not even Americans like Hersh Goldberg Polin, or any of the people whose tortured bodies have been returned to Israel), but if they were, it was America’s fault.

I’ve received riotous bursts of hatred from many now-blocked trolls, but this newest one also quotes a few of Israel’s far right politicians (as obnoxious as the far-left) who want Palestinians to disappear. If this were a competition to see who has more citizens that want to get rid of the other side, Israel would lose.

There are thankfully many educated, intelligent, serious Muslims who support freedom and want to live in peace even if it means accepting the existence of a Jewish state, but they’re not as loud, and Israel is still David fighting against the Goliath.

Trolls say things like, “Jews have all the money and AIPAC spent millions to buy congress, and yadda-yadda (insert all the antisemitic tropes you can think of in the next 10 seconds).” He argues that this war, started by Hamas on October 7, 2023 was ISRAEL’S FAULT. Lots of kooky logic to get to that conclusion, but that’s how trolls operate.

Trolls come in all sizes and shapes, religions and races, nationalities and colors, but they all have a festering sense of anger that they like to spread around. I’ve learned that a troll never change its mind once it finds a target for its hate. Their central theme seems to be: “Share the Hate,” and a few of them will probably twitch with excitement when they see another essay that loudly proclaims:

Israel is the ancient homeland of the Jewish people, and just as 23 countries in the world are ruled by Islamic Law (out of 49 Muslim majority countries), Israel has a right to exist as the only Jewish state.

I’m committed to supporting Israel’s right to exist, but that doesn’t mean I’m required to argue with every antisemitic idiot who throws silly nonsense at me in hopes that something will stick. It won’t no matter how loud a troll yells.

No matter if they say that Ben Gurion is worse than Sinwar and resurrect ancient blood libels against my people. No matter if they call me names (my fave was ‘Nazi whore’), accuse Israel of genocide rather than allow it to defend itself after a vicious attack, or morally equate Hamas, a vicious terror group whose goal is a Jew-free Middle East, with Judaism, the ancient religion upon which Christianity is based.

Hamas has subjugated Gazans since it took over in June of 2007. Hamas built 400 miles of tunnels to hide terrorist leaders, and buried weapons, rockets, and launching facilities under homes, schools (this is from 2017), mosques, and UN buildings. Hamas admits it’s strategy to use Palestinians as human shields.

And Hamas lies. As Hitler, who is looked up to by Hamas leaders and would-be dictators everywhere is known to have written, “The victor will never be asked if he told the truth.”

Will Israel survive this sunami of hate and vilification? It’s important for those of us who care about the truth, democracy, and freedom, to understand exactly what is happening in the Middle East.
