I reached 1,000 subs on Substack by fighting for Israel
And kicking back against antisemitic arseholes
The JPF is dedicated to promoting Jewish voices. I also like to think, as the owner of the JPF, fighting antisemitism should be a given.
I first started the JPF Substack in January 2023 and it was a slog.
I was disillusioned with Medium and the constant writing of content. I was also fearful of being banned on a whim or via some obscure complaint by a reader who disagreed with my views. Surprisingly, I had only been temporarily banned a couple of times.
Enter Substack and the lure of easy money from paid subscribers.
But nothing is ever easy.
Initially, I went very niche. JPF Substack became “The Alternative Torah”. A weekly look at the latest parsha rewritten and dripping in sarcasm. A less popular Monty Python version of the Torah.
My audience remained rooted at less than 100 subscribers. My most popular post had garnered 140 views, the majority of which came from me checking and rechecking my words. A year slowly went by and I had made $5 a month from the legendary David Perlmutter (now a permanent resident on Substack).
