When there’s a mass shooting in the U.S., many people use that as an opportunity to engage on the issue of whether we need new common sense gun laws. Closing gaping loopholes on background checks. Limiting higher clip magazines.

Second Amendment defenders complain that when people bring up the gun debate right after tragedy, they’re improperly taking advantage of emotions for political gain.

“How dare you use a mass school shooting to talk about guns!”

I don’t typically write about guns but isn’t the best time to address an issue when the effects of not addressing it rears its ugliest head. Shouldn’t’ we talk about gun violence precisely when gun violence arises? When the impact is fresh in our minds.

We all witnessed in real time the worst tragedy in the modern state of Israel’s 75-year history on October 7.

Hamas massacred 1,200 Jews and others in one day. Kids, young adults, the elderly. Even babies. They murdered 250+ young adults at a concert. The most Jews killed in one day since Adolph Hitler.

Hamas monsters kidnapped over 200, including small children, many of whom remain in captivity.
