a vision of heaven in the aftermath of lucifer's fall

on a sunday morning, i stood in front of a mirror and wrote down the things i saw and felt

breath
body
spirit
meet an exhausted trinity
on a broken throne
i can hear a beating heart
and feel a lingering stare
but i don't see its fear

bright wings litter the room
angels suffer trauma too
the heaven you never read about
is an asylum for disturbed butterflies

a man with breathing coals in his eyes
opens a book and told me of the war
that ripped the skies apart
i fall to the ground and sob aloud
why should anyone feel such pain

i am taken by a gust of desert wind
to a graveyard filled with distant songs
why does no one talk about this place
the other side of a ruined paradise
where god buries issues

at the end of my excursion
a beast meets me at the beautiful gate
and orders me to seal this revelation
from my therapist
