Together, we hold back the night

When they finally came for me, I was alone. All my friends had been taken, their lives spent to feed the endless hunger, to stave off the vast, simmering darkness.

We were the survivors, only a handful left from the once-proud ranks — the last bastion between humanity and the endless night. It was folly to think we could stand for long.
