Can I Trust You?
Kate absently scrolled through the latest Earth gossip from a cramped booth. She wasn’t the kind of woman to care about such things, but when you’re waiting on a habitually late friend for lunch, anything to kill time is welcome. She preferred to sit outside on the promenade and watch people as they went about their business. However she hadn’t planned on the Colony Day crowds and found herself inside the restaurant a few tables away from the windows.
“Excuse me.”
Kate looked up from the latest socialite trash and saw a handsome man standing beside her table.
“A beautiful woman shouldn’t have to eat alone.” Before Kate could answer, the man slid himself into the open seat and pulled up a menu.
“I’m actually waiting for someone.” Kate said.
The man tipped his menu down and glanced toward the door, then window. Kate caught herself staring at his perfectly trimmed hair and sapphire eyes.
“Oh. Is it ok if I sit here until she comes then?” The man said, scanning the restaurant once again before turning his attention to Kate.
“What makes you think it’s a woman? I could be meeting my husband and he could be the jealous type.” Kate said, her lips tipping slightly upward.
