Deep Down In That Hole

struggling to wake up
from a sleep you barely found,
feels fruitless
when you are down in that hole.

eyelids weigh you down like irons
strung up from your lashes,
and you must climb with that burden
somewhere out of that hole.

burrowed in, there is no sound
save the tumbling pebbles,
and the whispers of shadows
that say nothing of that hole.

when you are numb with boredom,
you can walk and dig deeper,
endlessly, in the same circles
that got you into that hole.

you can walk in the same circles
that got you deep down in that hole.
