Falling in Trust

She looks at me like I have gone mad. But I know I am right. I know she will be safe with me. The air between us is suddenly thick; the Universe is deciding whether my bravery wins out over her fears.

“Accept my trust, believe in me,” I say and hold out my hands, firm and beseeching.

She jumps.

I wait for her weight in my arms.
