Farewell, Metro North

perhaps not forever

After three solid years of riding the Harlem Line of the Metro North railway, from my home in Westchester County into the heart of Manhattan Island and back — after all the inspiration I’ve soaked up and shaped into stories and poems, about its twists and turns, about its industrious ticket collectors and insufferable passengers, about all the memories that its steady steel-on-steel rattle and hum stirred up inside me — I am a monthly ticket holder no more.

I now drive across the majestic stretch of the Hudson River known as the Tappan Zee and through the rolling hills of Northern New Jersey on my daily commute.

Until my muse returns — here are all my Metro North Gothic stories, starting from the most recent.
