Fear

A foe, or a friend?

Fear is a foe
Who creeps out from under the carpets,
Reeking of insecurities
Before clutching your heart in his bare hands.

Fear is a friend
Who agrees to disagree
With your rational mind
Until you prove your worth.

Fear is cunning,
For he knows the faulty steps
In your complex dance through life —
Ever ready to pull out the rug.

Fear is a constant companion
Even in the darkest moments —
As committed as he was
In all the happy ones.

Fear is filthy,
And ravenous for your courage;
You may think you’re healthy,
But fear will blow up your rage.

Fear is a savior
Walking you out of awkward situations,
Riding you to a wonderland of mediocrity
Of constant heart rate and beautiful boring days.

Fear is a shadow
Blocking out the truth;
Fear is the light
That puts food in your mouth.

Fear is facing your dear ones
With your hard armor down;
Fear is what guides you
As you become worthy of your crown.
