For Our
The voice of another
Inside my head I heard the voice of another,
He talked and laughed with me like a long lost brother,
He watched me as I poured my favorite drink,
He noticed how I would always fill it to the very brink.
For our first day at work together he was my voice of reason I confide;
My silent critic and my spiritual guide.
Together we braved through time and tide,
Till the clock struck nine and we went outside.
For our first stroll together he held my hand,
He soaked in all the wonder and beauty of the land,
He saw through my eyes a world so colorful and grand,
On and on we wandered until we could no longer stand.
For our first night together he kept me awake,
In sadistic glee he knew how long it would take,
For a mind such as mine to well and truly break.
Was letting him in my greatest mistake?
For our first morning after that day,
I woke up and knew he’d chosen to stay.
I kept myself hidden and out of his way,
Echoing across the walls of my mind, I heard him say:
“This existence I shall no longer let you lead astray,
For our body is mine and it’s my turn to play.”
