Sometimes
when a door doesn’t slam shut
in someone’s face
it can mean a whole lot more than simply,
open space,
and when lips drift apart and the mouth
makes an upwards crescent shape
it can alter a person’s entire inner landscape,

and what’s on the inside ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍moves out
so changing the world begins within us

all you lose in the queues
when you let someone through
‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍is a couple of frivolous minutes
but then butterflies fly
or at least they can try to
and the whole fuming forest might feel
the effect,

but even if only one cocoon gets cracked
it’s a start.

you don’t restore a crumbling building by

concurrently fixing every part
but the more helpers you get

the quicker the job.

they say it’s mentality’ masters the mob
and that isn’t restricted to madness.
once the balance gets swayed just one smile
past the mean

‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍the whole scene
can flip around on its axis.

the burden ‘to be’ can be heavy to bear,
it’s okay to get lost in the pressure.
but whenever you can,
show a stranger you care.

heart by heart, we will beat, all this terror.
