The people who hold the most power
are seldom those held to account.
The Poorest then cower
and rarely surmount
the obstacles thrown in their way.
“The Rich won’t let Planet Earth die.
The world has no state of decay!”
So why do they lie?
It’s not so mysterious:
they believe that they’re telling the truth.
When subjects of poems are serious,
(discussing behaviours uncouth),
it’s depressing, my friend –
thank G-d it’s the end.
