Look Under H for Human

Tenderness and misery juxtaposed
on a field of uncertainty.

Things are what they are, not what
they ought to be or we would like.

Our only apparent consistency
is our capacity for inconsistency.

We are often kind to strangers,
but sometimes maim those we love.
No one can be completely honest.
Compromise rules our lives.
Everyone has betrayed someone.

We seem to be dictionaries of defeat.

Still, we pick up our failures, and
slog along, doing or best to be better.

The true definition of Human.
