They told me of the dark

The birds, they spoke to me in song
of distant winds riding over ridges
To the south

He told me of the dawn

The light rays climbing up from the earth
into the midst of the leaves whistling
A morning lament

She gave me the daylight

a siren captured in a bottle, mouthing
A message of warmth, of love, of mistrust
To the moon

They brought me the night

Shadows which traverse my eyes
Beside soft shelter nestled between
Buttressed roots
