Monsters
Invisible landscape
Rocky and treacherous
Marked with hidden scars
And blackened caves
Where long forgotten monsters dwell
This place grows undetected
Masked by mounds of misread purpose
Casting shadows from beneath
No matter how smooth lies the surface
Life is hard and often ruthless,
Still we fight on through the wreck
Pain all around; we can’t compute it,
So we break it, step by step;
We conquer some, we keep the rest
Then to this place, deep down within us,
Forms a part of who we are
With the invisible turned visible;
A whole new start, for healing scars
They’re only monsters, in the dark.
