No Matter My Wish
A poem

The heart beats in sync with nothing but itself;
A rhythm now separate from one I used to know,
A rhythm I wake up with and long for another.
A deep rumble beckons for someone to stay;
For someone to keep the birds from going
and the winds from heading east,
For someone to keep the heartbeats thumping the way they once did.
Yet I know the seasons will fly
and that the birds will blow away once the time comes
just as the sky will pump its wind through its veins;
No matter my wish.
