#4 — Meltdown worthy micro stories (a departure)

The eldest, aka Drama Princess #1

[Author’s Note: Best read in your favorite Batman voice — with long, dramatic pauses between each line. Enjoy!]

The dog
thought her favorite stuffie
was really
quite tasty.

A wrinkle
in the placemat,
next to the spoon.
Oatmeal, displaced.

A spider
the size of a dust speck,
hung suspiciously
in the corner.

Someone
closed the door
to the bathroom,
horror ensued.

No cupcake
after the uneaten dinner
was thrown
into the trash.

Something
brushed up
against my arm,
plotting death.

I’d only seen
10 episodes
before Mommy
forced me to play.

Icy roads
kept my friends
safe,
from the party.

Mommy
said No,
to the candy-cane
at 8 a.m.

My shoes
had to stay on
in 9 degree weather
at the playground.

A green inchworm
made its way
across the carpet
to murder.

The birdbath
at the Library
was not
for sitting in.

The shrieks
that erupted meant
the mall trip
ended early.

The latch
on the toolbox
got stuck
on the plastic drill.

The diaper
was about to burst,
seemed like time
for excavating.

The bowl
looked yummy,
until Mommy ruined it
with green things.

The spot
was mine, but now
it is not, but I
was there first.

That toy
was my favorite,
until I saw
hers.

Opening
the clear backpack,
to find
it held nothing.

They tricked me
with bubbles,
my dirt mask,
exfoliated.

Mom
looked at ease,
so my feet
found her ribs.
