Pandemic

This too shall pass

We stood on top of hills screaming
Together howling of-
Lives lost
Jobs gone
Hope lost

Seated in silence
The clock ticked
Telling us-
Of time gone
Of fears flourished
Where rage rose

Of hidden anger
Flattered by technology
Covered in consumerism
Under the surface,
Economies shook
Of avalanches and fires,
Exposed by a pandemic.

Night nurses frantically working overtime,
Whole medical teams pushing back the-
Tentacles of Covid .
Sometimes winning
At times losing
Fighting valiantly despite their humanity
Breathing back life,
One breathe at a time

Scientists working round the clock
Of nights on lab stools and hoods
Bent backs and chronic fatigue
Of pipettes, PCRs and proteins
Offering a semblance of panacea
In the workings of a vaccine
Pushing back the claws of death
Bringing back life
One jab at a time

Despite mass upheaval
Between the cracks of space and time
Life regained
Of forests regrown
And wildlife returned
Of babies born
And Lazarus return

Heal yourself.
Heal in between the spaces
and in the open fields
Heal.
Live life different
But live it all the same
Push back fear,
Embrace love.
Learn to laugh
And to cry
Learn to grieve
Let it go.

The earth will heal itself and so shall you
Find happiness in the little things
Start that project
Grow that garden
Allow yourself to change and come out of this better, than you ever began
The sun will shine
The winter will leave
Therefore, renew your mind
Heal your body
Mend your soul.

The world must go on,
And so will you
New hope will arise
Above Covid19.
