Parting Sorrows of a Hyacinth

Why do we kiss
when we part
embrace
then leave
…. wanting
still needing

Why is the moist
of your lips
not like the steam
off morning’s coffee
… as start
to my every day

How does your fire
linger
when you’ve gone away…
your skin as touch and scent
remain
as distant arousal

We have lain
our bodies cupped
…like spring rain
clinging comfortably
in the curves
of hyacinth petals

Why do we kiss
when we part
……
why
do
we part?
