As children, we learned from parents,
Teachers, Universities,
The school of hard knocks.

As adults, our minds got conditioned
Into rigid, compartmentalized thinking.
Us versus them.
Haves versus have-nots.
Red versus blue.

What will it take
To get back our childish curiosity
And an open-mind?

My friend, we grew up together
Then went our different ways
Can we set our minds free?
Agree to disagree?

Can we get back to the good old days?
When all ideas were exciting
And our minds absorbed them
Like the earth assimilating
The season’s first rain?
