Season’s Greetings from The Junction
Dear Reader,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. The holidays are just around the corner, and in a few days I’ll be returning stateside to spend Christmas and New Years with family for the first time since 2012. Time and distance makes the heart yearn for familiar faces. Some cookies and spiced eggnog sure won’t hurt either.
I wanted to take the opportunity to express my gratitude for everyone who has donated to The Junction so far. Your contributions have exceeded my wildest expectations, and I’m so happy this little corner of the internet has been a home and way station for so many aspiring writers wanting to share their tales and poems and the people like you who read them. I’d like to continue doing so for as long as possible. If you’re interested in donating, please click here.
At some point, I’d like to begin making high quality audio recordings, and perhaps eventually create a podcast featuring selected pieces, or interviews with other creators. I’m also not against publishing an anthology series if that’s something people are interested in. Do these sound like good ideas?
We’ve published hundreds upon hundreds of stories since The Junction was founded three years ago. Some publications put out monthly newsletters highlighting new work. That’s admirable, and also terribly exhausting. With your help, I’d like to try something a little different. Medium has an email address to send them “tips” of stories you’ve read and think deserve wider attention. Their curatorial approach, however, is rather opaque and automated.
What I’d like to do is have you send me your recommendations. It can be anything that you’ve read on The Junction, from the current month back to the very beginning. You should choose the tales and poems you absolutely loved, pieces that touched or wowed you, or think deserve more attention. Email me at thejunctionstories@gmail.com. Feel free to leave a note explaining why. At some point in January I’ll put together a compilation of everyone’s picks. Let’s see if this little experiment works. I look forward to hearing from you.
Wishing you all the very best,
Stephen M. Tomic
