Sometimes, all it takes is a second…
your words arrow in straight to my soul
laser sharp with your knowledge of me

All cognisance of things disappears,
I crumble under the onslaught,
as the truth of your words hit home —
a truth I had unconsciously denied

My whole foundation
is jiggling its tectonic plates
I lie here, foetal, shrivelled,
waiting for the dust to settle around me,
hoping that the quakes
will leave me alive in the end…

or not…

it doesn’t matter anymore

who I was is no more

who I am is unknown

who…what…how…

how am i the villain of my own story?
