She Truly Has Never Shed a Tear

She truly has never shed a tear
But a cry a day did she
Through her pen and paint brush
But never a drop did fall from those eyes
She was strong, so they said
But a cry a day was her constant lot
For the loss, but most for
The tears unable to run
Least the enemy take her next
A cry a day for all her years
Still, on her tombstone
In bright letters rest those words
We lay in tears, the one whose eyes never shed
Because a smile was always near to dry another’s tear
