Bernadette aka The Bird

Once there was a Bird
She liked to bark and herd.
Sharp, she was not to be lured
Away to take a nap.

She played and played
Until the toy was frayed
And her fur was another shade.
Then she said, “well, crap!”

And so she searched
And also perched,
Suddenly she lurched
At the sight of a ball.
“It is bright red!”
She thought in her head
As she took and fled
The scene with a new sphere.

Running home,
She jumped over the bone
Ignoring the groan
From her sister as she napped.
Pawed at a foot
Catches a look
And she’s off the hook
When a new fetch begins.
