“Are you awake?”

“Yea, why?”

“Don’t you hear that?”

“It’s Frank and Edith, in the kid’s room, talking.”

“Yea, but it’s three in the morning and they have to get going at eight.”

“Yea, so, we’re up, too and we’re seeing them off.”

“I know, but, you’d think they’d be asleep, not…”

“Not, what?”

“Well, it sounds like they’re having a fairly deep conversation about Daryl and what they’re going to do to get the money he needs for college in the fall.”

“Are you listenung to their conversation?”

“No, not really, it’s just that you can hear them, you know. That’s why I’m saying…”

“Yea, forget it; it’s nothing. Go back to sleep.”

“Ahh, I can’t, I’m going to get some cookies from the kitchen. Do you want some?”

“No, I don’t want cookies. I want to go to sleep. We have to be up in a few hours.”

“Okay, I’ll wait ‘till morning.”

“Frank, Edith, morning, did you sleep well?”

“Yea, we went out as soon as we hit the pillow. Didn’t we?”

“Yea, I don’t think I even moved; usually I roll over to my side, but not last night. I went right out.”

“Coffee?”

“Yes, let me at it.”

“Yea, me too.”

“Hey, I wanted ask while Sarah’s getting dressed; are you guys aright?”

“Sure Phil, why?”

“I didn’t mean too, but I overheard your conversation at about three a.m., and I thought maybe you were having financial trouble.”

“No, we’re doing great. Our investments are where they need to be; no, we’re great, we don’t need anything.”

“Oh, good, because I heard you saying that Daryl was headed for college in the fall, and thought…maybe…”

“Wow, we’ve had a few conversations about that, but, we worked it out; didn’t we, Love?”

“Yea, we haven’t talked about that for weeks. We really don’t have the entire thing worked out, but we know we’re going to be secure financially, so, yea, it’s all worked out. But, it’s funny you should mention it, because I wanted to tell you, Frank, that I made an appointment for tomorrow with the broker.”

“Yea, you told me that last week, didn’t you?”

“No, I don’t think so; you we’re in Buffalo last week.”

“Yea, you told me the last time I called from Buffalo.”

“No, I had forgotten to tell you when you called. We talked about this.”

“That’s the conversation I heard you two having last night. Are you saying that you we’re having the conversation in your sleep?”

“Oh, morning, Sarah. Are you finished in the bathroom?”

“Morning, yea, I’m done. Did you get your cookies for breakfast?”

“How did you know I ate cookies for breakfast?”

“That’s why you woke me up at three this morning.”

“I did…”

“Yea, you asked me if I wanted some. Were you dreaming, again?”
