The Philosophers Breakfast

The chicken,
or the egg?
The chicken and the egg?
The egg shells wrapped in feathers
served with processed meat instead?
The lemon’s packed with zeal.
Is the lemon really real?
Is it wrong to call a lemon lemon
after it’s been peeled?
Or is it just a lem?
When the on is off its stem?
And if some can’t come from nothing
then can something ever end?
Have the particles just partied
since the clocks began to tick?
But if the clocks were once not ticking
how was something there to think?
Of ways to conjure up the clocks
to make the silence go away?
Though if something then was thinking
then it must be here today?
Because if some can’t come from nothing
then that something’s always here?
Forget the chicken,
and the egg,

I think I need a fucking beer.
