Ahhh, yes, the 20 day countdown until National Signing Day. After a short dead period, every college football team is out on the recruiting trail, trying their best to reel in the elite talents from around the country in these next couple of weeks.

In regards to Virginia Tech, I’m here to discuss one quick topic: Quarterback. It’s been quite the change of scenery in the quarterback department for the Hokies. Just last week they had three quarterbacks on the roster (a Freshman, a redshirt Freshman, and one from the practice squad), and now they have six, yes six, quarterbacks that will be in competition for the QB1 spot come Labor Day Weekend.

The Hokies added early enrollee Hendon Hooker, JUCO Transfer AJ Bush, and Kansas transfer Ryan Willis, to go along with Fr. Josh Jackson, r-Fr. Jack Click, and practice squad QB, Chase Mummau.

Here’s the question: If Justin Fuente attracted or sought out these transfer QBs, does it mean he doesn’t have the confidence in Josh Jackson, Jack Click, or Chase Mummau to get the job done during spring practice and beyond?

It’s an interesting predicament, but I do not think many Hokie fans are focusing on this question. They’re more in-line with, “Who’s gonna be the quarterback?” plain and simple. Not that it’s a big deal, but it does just raise an interesting question on Fuente’s thought process.

Virginia Tech announced via Twitter its Spring Game will take place on April 22. Lane Stadium will be just as full for this year’s game as it was last year’s.

The Hokies open up the 2017 season against West Virginia in Landover, MD at FedEx Field on September 2 and will put the Black Diamond trophy on the line; one which they have currently had in possession for 4,485 days. Surprisingly, this is longer than they’ve had the Commonwealth Cup. That number currently sits at 4,429 days — @UVAFANS

As for now, all Hokie fans can do is sit back, read relentlessly through Twitter feeds for any information on the position and wait until April 22 to see what these six guys have to offer.

Happy Off-season!
