Give Me ALL Your Shares of Giannis

How many positions can you guard? Can you be a primary ball handler? What does your assist to turnover ratio look like? How many steps does it take you to get from half court to the rim? Do you have a dope nickname that references not only your country of origin but also your freakish skill set?

There’s only one player in the league that can answer all of these questions correctly. He goes by “The Greek Freak”, mostly because his real name is impossible to pronounce.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, prounouced ‘ YAHN-is Anh-teh-toe-KUHN-po’ is the 6’11 combo guard/forward/position-less wonder and the first pick for my dynasty team.

In this ever evolving beast we call the NBA, what more could you want from a franchise cornerstone?

Since entering the league as — what we’ll say nicely — an unproven foreign prospect in 2013, Giannis has done nothing but improve.

Here’s a little taste of his stats through the first three and a half seasons of his career:

Points per Game: 6.8(2013–2014), 12.7(2014–2015), 16.9(2015–2016) and so far through the first quarter of this season an astounding 23.4 ppg.

Rebounds per Game: 4.4(2013–2014), 6.7(2014–2015), 7.7(2015–2016) and now 9.9(2016–2017)

Watch them. Watch them all.

Idk man. All I can say is wow.

Now, advanced metrics aren’t something I enjoy pouring over but in the case of “The Greek Freak” they truly are worth your while to check out.

Over his four years, his Assist Ratio, Rebounding Percentage, Usage Percentage and True Shooting Percentage have gone from overlook-able to jaw dropping. For a player like Giannis who plays thePoint-Forward spot for a building Bucks team, posting metrics like these is unheard of.

Enough about nerdy numbers, you say? I concur. Let’s move on to the important stuff. Money.

In 2013, Giannis signed a 3 year deal worth $8.61 million with a team option for a fourth year valued at $2.995 million. More importantly, on September 19th of this year, he signed a 4yr/$100 million extension, keeping him under team control through the 2020–2021 season.

Even with this massive extension, I have faith that Giannis is exactly the type of player to be this team’s cornerstone heading into the future.

I’m going to keep it brief with the first few guys because these are the players everybody knows and loves. As I get deeper and more into the nitty gritty of contracts, player roles and the like, more details, reasoning and player analysis will be necessary.

To keep myself honest, a running tally of positional requirements, salary cap for this season and depth chart will be kept up with throughout the dynasty building.
