Beauty Doesn’t Fade
It evolves.
I once overheard some young guys mocking a friend for sleeping with a 40-year-old woman, disgusted by her visible veins and cellulite. Based solely on her age and appearance, this judgment left a lasting impression on me. At 21, I internalized these critiques, feeling inadequate about my own body, influenced by the relentless media portrayal of the “ideal” woman.
As women, we constantly battle unrealistic beauty standards that damage our self-worth. Aging only intensifies this struggle as society often deems older women invisible. The paradox of fading beauty is painful, especially for those who once thrived on the attention youth brought. But true beauty transcends physical appearance. It radiates from within, shaped by our experiences and wisdom.
We must reject these impossible standards, embrace our aging selves, and proudly assert our presence to combat this invisibility. Aging doesn’t diminish our value — it enriches it.
