LeBron: “I’m Taking My Talents To Team South Korea”

LeBron’s decision not join Team USA at the Rio Olympics shocked some, but the superstar forward has sparked outrage in his home country of the United States after telling reporter Jim Gray that he will be “taking [his] talents to South Korea for this year’s Olympic games.”

The South Korea national basketball team has not qualified for the Olympics since 1996, and has never medaled — though LeBron believes he has a good chance winning the 2017 FIBA Asia Championship alongside his good friends Kim Joo-sung and Kim Jong-kyu.

“We’re going to win a lot of FIBA Asia Championships. Championships. That’s plural,” LeBron told a raucous Seoul crowd. “Not 하나, not 둘, not 셋, not 넷 , not 다섯, not 여섯, not 일곱….”

Shortly after the announcement, President Barack Obama sent out a scathing letter, calling LeBron “narcissistic” and “cowardly,” while Team USA fans were seen burning his jersey in the streets. However, sources within LeBron’s circle report that after a four-year stint with South Korea, he will most likely return to Team USA in time to compete in the 2020 Olympics.
