Jailer, BS like you never had it!

High time Rajinikanth took retirement if this is the type of films he wants to make.

I can’t believe someone actually recommended this film to me to be watched on screen. I would have never done so and even if by mistake I had walked into a cinema, would have run out in minutes. In my previous review I had written about the creativity of Sivakarthikeyan’s “Maaveeran” and how Sivakarthikeyan is surviving among the biggies of the Tamil Film Industry. If the biggies were to be making movies like “Jailer” then Sivakarthikeyan is certainly going to be around for long. What crap is this film!

Rajinikanth looks emaciated to such an extent that he can hardly walk or talk energetically and therefore many shots involve him in slow motion. His dialogues and action themselves look like they are in slow motion. No energy at all. Moreover, I am wondering how he is giving into such roles after publicly displaying his affinity with spirituality.

The worst aspect of this film is the cruelty. Pity that directors and writers who are already vitiating the already sick minds of the audience think the only way to sell their movies is by showing more and more barbaric cruelty. Get ready for decapitation, slashings, stabbings, sledgehammer blows, baseball bat (yes, baseball bat, not cricket or hockey bats) blows, lathi beatings, executions by drowning live people in acid, and of course shootings paving way for the wrong message that you can kill any number of people and get away with it perfectly. The horrible Telugu film “Dasara” that was released in the earlier part of this year is another example. Whom are these directors and writers trying to fool? When did they give Jailers in India the authority to slash body parts for a simple act of defiance? Pity the audience who is buying this all. Only recently a family of 4 were hacked to death in Tamilnadu and movies as these are certainly a bad influence.

To improve the marketing of this film, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff and Tamannaah are roped in. Mohanlal looks ludicrous with his hair and tight shirts and even he is engaging in violence that we haven’t seen him perform in his Malayalam films.

Stay away from this abominable film or watch it as I did, engaging the forward button on your remote with abandon.
