Just plain boring, stereotyped, cliched, stunts filled with overly done CG

The names of all such similar movies spring to mind. Not an exhaustive list but here it goes. Sphinx, King Solomon’s Mines, Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, National Treasure (1, 2), The Indiana Jones Series (1, 2 and 3, 4 was terrible of course), The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, The Pirates of the Caribbean series…probably I am missing more here (will add them later if I recall them). Jungle Cruise turns out to be a damp squib in this category, probably even the worst.

The most striking thing about this movie is the similarity in the casting between this movie and the “The Mummy” which was made way back in 1999 and this one hardly comes close to the thrills that “The Mummy” and its sequel “The Mummy Returns” (except for the scorpion king CG) offered. Jungle Cruise also has an American adventurer, British heroine and her brother. Even the costumes have been copied from the former film. The villain provided some respite. By now we all know that perfect stunts that never fail are always done using CGI. In fact there are hardly any stunts performed these days without CGI. So the action isn’t a big deal anyway. James Newton Howard’s music in the initial actions scenes was a pain in the ear.

British comedy as usual is more “serious” than ever, hardly appealing.

And one also wonders why Metallica lent their music to this crappy film?

Ditch this film even if you have nothing else to watch.
