Not my kind of movie and neither will it be yours too!

There is one primary reason why I detested, even abominate the movies “Aaranya Kaandam” and “Super Deluxe”, the overly distracting songs of Thamizh movies being played in the background (more on those terrible movies later). In “Nanpakal nerathu mayakkam” director Lijo Jose Pallisery has gone overboard with this technique. Here it is not just Thamizh songs but tonnes of movie dialogues from Thamizh films (Ratha Kanneer, Gauravam, that I could make out) that share the audio space of this film. It is so distracting, annoying and irritating you just wish to turn off watching this film. No wonder it is called a bi-lingual film both half in Malayalam and in Tamil. Considering the number of songs and movie dialogues used from Tamizh films it feels more of a Tamizh film.

At one particular point the movie seemed intriguing but soon you realize there is nothing special and that no strange twists about the story are in store. It just a bland and a let-down feeling after that. While “Angamaly Diaries” still remains a masterpiece, Lijo, in my opinion is yet to make anything close let alone better than that offering.

A damp squib. Watch it if you are a hardcore fan of Mammootty or Lijo Jose Pellissery.
