A let down of a sequel.

I think the doomed face of Rakshit Shetty in the poster says it all.

Spoiler alert — as the movie is a dismal sequel, things from the movie have been revealed.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello — Side B is a let down because of this simple reason. Why have a sequel when Priya and Manu (the principal characters of the first film) cannot and don’t meet? What was the purpose of the sequel then? Even for a split-second Priya doesn’t think of Manu in the entire film. Instead, it looks as though she has thrown her past behind and moved on. Poor Manu who is by then released from prison is watching and monitoring her all the time in secrecy helping her lead a better life but not at one moment is she aware of it and finally it ends tragically for Manu. What happened to those “waiting for your release”, “I’ll light a thousand lamps (or something similar)” that she had promised him? There are so many such places where it must have struck her, the blue walls of her bedroom of her new home, the totally untoward opportunity of getting back to singing, her financial woes disappearing, helped by some stranger (Manu again) who has contacted her husband and, in the process, herlped her move from the slums to a nice new home. Her brother too knows Manu is helping her and yet he and her husband don’t disclose anything of him to her. But how come she couldn’t realize that “all these good things” weren’t strange coincidences.

New characters are introduced in this sequel. Moral ethics are flouted and to satisfy his urges Manu starts visiting and later hanging around with a sex-worker played by Chaithra Achar who excels in her role with her Aliya Bhatt looks. The subsequent romance between Rakshit and her was kind-of nice but that was an unwanted detour when we are constantly thinking Manu and Priya are going to get together, but they don’t. A fictitous meeting happens in a dream sequence.

Music is fabulous, and so are the songs which are the lifeline of this film like its predecessor. Sadly, one is left with the same questions I have asked earlier, “Why the sequel when Manu and Priya cannot make contact?”.
