A lot of Christians are full-time dead raisers, every week and every day we raise the dead. The thing is, we seem to keep raising the same person from the dead and then killing him or her. We have been very good at this whole blaming of what we call “the flesh”. I would like to take a little bit of your time to clarify something.

Firstly, when we decided that Jesus was real and that we accepted the fact that He took our sins and became them so that we would be restored to right relationship with God (We were made righteous, we don’t still need to become righteous) we very effectively died and became new, everything we were — which was filthy sinful, was removed from existence and made new, check out 2 Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Super cool hey? The sinful man has already been put to death and is dead, stop resurrecting it then blaming it and killing it again, that’s just weird. The moment you accepted the fact that Christ restored us to God is the moment your old man or ‘flesh’ died, it’s gone and dealt with … and you didn’t even have to do it because Christ did it for us, hows that for amazing? You have become a completely new creation, a new person, not just a made over person but a new person.

There are so many stories and people I know of that at the moment of accepting Christ there was this transformation that took place. Everything about them changed, it was like they walked over to a plug socket in the wall and connected themselves to the mains! The powerful life of Christ just filled them up and gave them supernatural abundant life! For some people it was dramatic and for some not so dramatic. So now you see that you are a completely new creation, nothing about you is old! This is were I would like to address the second thing…

Renewing of your mind

Paul writes in Romans 12:2 …

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Our brains need to play catch up! Our minds need to be ‘reconditioned’ and retrained to start thinking correctly. Once our belief system changes the way we think needs to change, we need to stop believing lies about ourselves and who we are. Its a case of knowing that we are sons but just not letting it infiltrate everything about us.

I have found that the best way to renew our minds from the old way of thinking is to just hang out in Dads presence, meditate on His word and His goodness, just be loved on by Him. When we hang out with Him, His presence changes us and the way we live because we start to understand deep in our heart and soul that we are loved and that we are filled with Him, that changes everything we do because our reference point from which we do life is changed from a place of desiring and seeking out perfect love and acceptance to the place of a son or daughter that it perfectly loved and accepted.

End of this little thought. Start of something new!
