A day after the New York Knicks picked up their best win of the season, a 105–102 victory over Detroit, the team fell short to a Washington Wizards team that was 2–8 entering Thursday night.

The Knicks (5–7) trailed by as much as 27 before a 47-point fourth quarter rally proved too little, too late in a 119–112 road loss to the Wizards. Rose, who scored a season-high 27 points (8-for-18 shooting), said “you would think” the effort would be there at this point of the season.

“Tonight was like effort. Like I said, when we see someone down or we see things not clicking, that’s when we’ve gotta come together as a team,” he said. “So, it’s still early in the year. We’ve still got a lot more games to play. It’ll just take time.

“When you play in a game like this, if you’re not together, things build on top of each other.”
