The Knicks have been in the market for a veteran point guard to help out youngster Frank Ntilikina for multiple weeks, and they finally have their man:

The agreement is for $2.3 million, the veteran’s minimum. Sessions has been linked to the Knicks for years:

Destiny fulfilled! Sessions averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 assists last year for the Charlotte Hornets, shooting 38 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from three. For his career, he has put up 10.6 points and 4.1 assists (via Basketball-Reference). The Knicks will be Sessions’ eighth team in 11 years, so it’s fair to officially slap the journeyman title on the ten-year veteran. While the assists numbers for his career aren’t ridiculously high, he does involve his teammates at a rate that will make him a ground-breaker in New York:

Hey, remember this?:

And they call him a veteran? This dude is spry! Get outta here, mainstream media!

Five years ago, Sessions was traded from the Cavaliers to the Lakers a first round pick(!) and the right to swap first round picks(!!!!!). I distinctly remember the Lakers thinking he was a huge addition for them to make a run with the peak Andrew Bynum 2011–12 squad. It’s a fun exercise to follow these vets as they wind down to see how they arrive at their final destinations.

Anyways, his winding path has culminated in him landing in New York to help bring Frankie Smokes up to speed in the NBA. Sessions was less than stellar last year (he missed the last 32 games due to a meniscus tear), so he’s obviously not going to be a difference maker, but his presence will be great for the youngsters. Not much to complain about here. Welcome to New York, Ramon! As if you needed any other reasons to be excited for the season, Clem has upped the ante:

The season can’t come soon enough.
