In an effort to be transparent with their fanbase, the MSG Company has launched a blog site to allow executives to voice their takes directly to the fans:

In their introduction to the interwebs, the brand spankin’ new MSG Blog says that the MSG Company can sometimes “feel remote and unknowable.” No way!

The article isn’t especially noteworthy, featuring some lukewarm takes and cliche catch phrases. Anyone can say they wanted to play “dogged defense,” but that doesn’t mean their team will display that trait in actuality. The tone throughout is centered on the future, as Mills points out multiple times the youth movement that the team has undergone.

Mills mentions Jeff Hornacek, Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway, Jr., Ron Baker, Willy Hernangómez, and Frank Ntilikina by name.

One name that failed to be mentioned sticks out like a sore thumb: Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks have made it clear that they don’t want Anthony on the team. They haven’t been able to conjure up a deal that makes sense for the team yet, and I’m not sure if they ever will, so they should probably stop with these subtle jabs at Carmelo. Just a thought.

Beyond the content of the article, this is, theoretically, a step in the right direction for the ownership group. Hearing directly from the mouth of the beast is a welcomed opportunity for any fan. We all know that these messages are going to be incredibly censored, though. I can just imagine Jimmy Dolan sitting on his computer looking over an article, saying, “Steve! Get rid of the part where you say working for me makes you sad all the time!”

The Knicks have their own The Players Tribune, with the space available to attempt to explain themselves.
