Is the Fun Only in the Anticipation?

I was catching up with a friend and local business owner in Montreal and he said something that resonated with me. “Planning and thinking about launching the business was so exciting, now we are just running it.” This was not said in a context that meant actually running the business was not fun but the emotions have shifted.

Being on the cuspt of launching KYŌ I can definitely relate to what seems like minute to minute excitement in anticipation of the launch! It has been such a high and I cannot imagine it stopping, but will it or will it just shift to something else?

So what if we treated everything as mini launches? Made the small things into big things in their own right. It does not always have to be a new start-up, product or service to give you that minute to minute burst of excitement. Sometimes just stepping back, taking a look at what you are working on and finding that one thing you can bring to the next level is exactly what is needed to get that excitement back.
